Over 4,000 people have completed the mosaic puzzle, a unique piece that has been preserved in excellent condition in the underground parking of Parc Central shopping center. This mosaic, the first of its kind in the region, has come back to life through this initiative, which revives and highlights a previously forgotten archaeological heritage. Check the news here.
Francisco Lambea, manager of Parc Central, expressed his excitement about this innovative proposal and emphasized its uniqueness: “We are proud to be the first and only shopping center to recover, preserve, and promote an archaeological site of such prestige and open it to the public. This immersive experience not only enriches the city’s cultural and tourist offerings but also enhances the value of Tarragona’s archaeological heritage.”
The Virtual Reality experience, part of a broader tour of the facilities, has attracted visitors from around the world. Thanks to its multi-language format and the use of hand-tracking technology, the experience has been much more accessible and intuitive than traditional controllers.
The game, which lasts around 5 minutes, faithfully recreates an ancient Roman «Caldarium.» Participants must complete a mosaic puzzle and then collect coins discovered at the site, storing them in an amphora. This experience has been enjoyed by both children and adults alike.
At Expacia, we support the use of new technologies to showcase cultural heritage in an innovative and engaging way. We are thrilled with the success of this project and look forward to seeing more initiatives like this in the future!
