It’s hot out there, and we know you could use an excuse to stay inside and explore the virtual world. How about another Meta Quest software update?
The Meta Quest v68 software update begins rolling out today, and we’re introducing a new Layout utility app for redesigning your real-world spaces, making it easier to manage your in-progress downloads, and more.
Catch all the details below—and remember, we roll our software updates out gradually. If you don’t see v68 today, rest assured it’ll hit your headset soon.
Layout Utility App
We’ve all been there, standing in the furniture store and thinking “I should’ve pulled out the tape measure before I left.” But what if you didn’t need the tape measure? Better yet, what if you didn’t even need to go to the furniture store?
Introducing Layout, a new utility app for Meta Quest that helps you visualize real-world items in your physical space. Measure that nook where you want to put a new loveseat—or simply place the loveseat in there and see how it feels. Check how tall your kitchen island is before you order those bar-height stools. Use the leveling tool to check that your picture frames are indeed horizontal (or not).
Layout makes it easy to (re)arrange your room and visualize potential changes before you find yourself adrift in the TV section, trying to decide whether a 72-inch TV is too big for your space…or maybe too small?
You’ll find Layout in your App Library once your Meta Quest headset updates to v68.
Performance Improvements
We’re also rolling out a number of small quality-of-life improvements with v68 that will improve the overall Meta Quest experience.
Faster app downloads: We’ve made some behind-the-scenes improvements that enable multiple games and apps to be downloaded at once, and added a new “Downloads” tab in your Library so that you can track and manage all of your installs from a single unified place.
Improved Graphic Performance: We’re also releasing a new frame timing algorithm for OpenXR that will improve overall frame rate and prediction latency on Meta Quest, resulting in reduced latency and stuttering in OpenXR apps.
Whether gaming, exploring, or creating in VR, these updates improve the Meta Quest experience across the board and make v68 feel snappier and more responsive than ever.
Meta Quest Gallery
